I forgot my password

Request an emailed password reset using the email you originally signed in with. Links work once for 30 minutes; newer requests replace older links. A reset signs out existing sessions but preserves your account and encrypted projects.

I forgot my sign-in email

Check your password manager or earlier Landlenz invitations. Members can ask their administrator. Hosting owners can check LANDLENZ_ADMIN_EMAIL in the deployed service’s environment, or run npm run recovery:status with the real hosting environment configured. Earlier FIELDNOTE_ADMIN_EMAIL settings remain accepted. Changing the admin email selects a different account; keep it unchanged during recovery.

My authenticator does not work

Set your phone’s date and time to automatic and enter a fresh six-digit Landlenz code. A code can only be used once. Alternatively, enter one of your saved recovery codes in the authenticator field together with your password. After signing in, open Settings → Admin two-factor authentication & recovery codes to replace your authenticator or recovery codes.

I lost my authenticator and every recovery code

Email password reset does not disable two-factor authentication. Only the hosting owner can reset the authenticator setup. In a trusted command environment with the production account-store settings, run:

node scripts/reset-admin-mfa.mjs --confirm YOUR_CONFIGURED_ADMIN_EMAIL

Replace the placeholder with the configured admin email. This revokes admin sessions and requires a new authenticator setup after password sign-in. It retains the account identity and encrypted project keys. The command has no public web equivalent. If you cannot access hosting or the account store, recover those provider accounts first.

Email recovery is unavailable

The hosting owner must configure RESEND_API_KEY, a verified sending domain, LANDLENZ_EMAIL_FROM and LANDLENZ_PUBLIC_URL. The public URL must be the app’s working HTTPS address. Keep the existing Google mailbox records. A sending key alone does not verify a domain. Members can ask an admin for a securely shared reset link.

Hosting-owner password recovery

Open the deployed service’s environment and change LANDLENZ_PASSWORD to a new unique password, then save and deploy. Earlier deployments use FIELDNOTE_PASSWORD; if both names exist, keep their password values aligned. Leave the admin email, session, storage and MFA secrets unchanged. Changing the hosting password restores password access but keeps the authenticator requirement.

Too many attempts?

Pause for 15 minutes rather than retrying repeatedly. Recovery requests and sign-in attempts have separate limits. Never send passwords, email links, authenticator keys or recovery codes to someone helping you.
